Well test information is critical for the prudent management of oil and gas reservoirs. Well testing is thus an integral part of the overall production and depletion strategy of a reservoir. The Alberta Energy Regulator (#AER) defines the minimum legal requirements for #welltesting which are considered essential for prudent reservoir management.
Alberta started conserving natural gas in 1938! Today our natural gas pipeline grid heats virtually every building in the province. Most of us also heat water, cook, and barbecue with gas (methane, C1). Gas is a valuable revenue generating commodity. During a #welltest, flaring, venting, or incinerating gas, the associated emissions, and waste, are a financial, health and safety, and environmental concern. In-line testing is preferred to minimize flaring. Nevertheless, gas flaring should be kept to a minimum. Flaring permits are provided in accordance with D60 and will be checked against the D40 production test submission.
