D40.5: Acceptable Test Standards
The manner in which #welltests are conducted and reported is always critical to the value of data obtained. Directive 40 (D40) defines the #AER quality standards required for well tests to fulfill survey requirements.
Annual pressure surveys are often required on pumping oil wells (plunger and gas lift, too). Acoustic well sounder (#AWS) pressure build-up surveys are an acceptable process (see D5), especially with pressure transient analysis (#PTA). Single shot AWS surveys are acceptable for suspended oil wells. Surface pressure tests can also be run on gas wells, as long as the AWS shows any fluid to be below the mid point of the perforations (MPP).
