D40 Misconceptions

D40: #AER Directive 40 (aka Guide 40) Initial Pressures… What’s not specifically clear in D40 is that Pressure Transient Analysis (#PTA) is an acceptable #welltest protocol for estimating a p* for Initial Pressure Oil and Initial Pressure Gas (#LNG) conditions. I’ve heard folks reiterating some misconceptions that are not true: a): if a test doesn’t pass the 2 kPa Rule it has to be shut-in >14 days, b): all tests have to pass the 2 kPa Rule, c): all tests have to be shut-in >14 days. Notwithstanding, option d) would be to think ahead about your #welltesting optimization and compliance strategy.
