Everything is Broken
Everything is Broken (including our web site): Broken hands on broken ploughs, broken treaties, broken vows, broken pipes, broken tools, people bending broken rules…(Bob Dylan). In the spirit of global disorder, let’s look at weird #welltests… Sometimes mysterious, unusual, and bizarre things happen #welltesting, and we have no idea what’s going on… Here’s an example of some very unusual harmonics affecting subsurface pressure recorders – a pulsating, cycling, wave form anomaly manifesting throughout the data. We’ve dubbed it ‘cilia’ – but have no idea what causes the strange signature. Both pressure and temperature data are affected, and it fades or wanes with time. Note that pressure is a secondary signal, calculated from strain resistance, and temperature of the strain gauge must be known. Temperature is therefore a primary signal, measured directly off the strain gauge. These “cilia” are quite dynamic, sharp peaks-and-valleys, so it just doesn’t seem like a thermodynamic response.
