PTA is a Geological tool when we ascertain rock mechanics. Diagnostic Fracture Injection Tests (DFIT), Mini-Frac’ tests, and Step-Rate tests all evaluate hydraulic rock-stress properties. G-Function analysis quantifies break-over pressure, frac’ closure pressure, closure dynamics, and frac’ gradient. Known parameters help improve designs of future treatments in development wells. Quantifiable results are critical for maximizing injectivity operations for waterflood or water disposal. Quality control is vital as protocols change: do cross-linked gel frac’s really perform better than slickwater?
