PTA is an Evaluation tool when we forecast hypothetical cases to probe and ascertain project viability. Theoretical, what-if, scenarios can be generated to evaluate economics and feasibility of proposed projects. For example, completing a PTA once, management wondered what-if they drilled a Horizontal well… Test design suggested 2000 m would provide their productivity requirement, but the budget would only cover 500 m, so the project was shelved with only a small engineering fee.
