Welltest 200: PTA Tool Kit
Everything is Broken: Broken hands on broken ploughs, broken treaties, broken vows, broken pipes, broken tools, people bending broken rules…(Bob Dylan). In the spirit of global discordance, let’s look at failed #welltests… Sometimes mysterious, unusual, and bizarre things happen #welltesting, sometimes we have No Idea what went wrong… Here’s the most expensive test we’ve ever supervised. We had an original #welltest, awesome natural gas deliverability, but low confidence in the PTA forecast, because it was too short for the matrix to contribute. There was also a very expensive river crossing: not just to move test equipment across, but also for tie-in, if the test proved economic long-term deliverability. So, we designed a test with not just the matrix in mind, but also resiliency and redundancy. Two conventional strain gauges plus two top-of-the-line quartz gauges, all four subsurface pressure recorders in bomb wells, two locks, two hold-downs. All four gauges failed! Nobody had any theories why…
