Office Technology – Keeping in Touch
Cool Tools that keep us connected whenever, wherever. We use a Talkswitch PBX to turn our land-lines into a VoIP system. This Canadian technology is amazing and economical for our small business. First it sends incoming calls to our computers where we can answer and transfer from our Plantronics CS50 USB headsets and CounterPath eyeBeam soft-phone. If we are off-line or in the garage we just pick up one of our six Panasonic Multi-talk 2.4 GHz handsets. Talkswitch voice messages are e-mailed to us, so we receive them on our Blackberry, iPhone, and iPad. Annoying auto-dialers we program to dump to a fictitious extension (you know those 800, 888, 000 prefix numbers – or any politician we don’t want to talk to). We even had the Talkswitch set up so we could answer calls when we were in New Zealand! I’m not sure if this feature will still work after getting rid of our exchange server.
