Road Warrior Milestones: Tethered WI-FI
Working from home is one thing, working from anywhere takes some special gear, know-how, and patience. You should know how to tether your laptop to your mobile phone, to create a Wi-Fi connection, on the road, for RUSH situations. Sometimes communication just can’t wait until you are back in the office or home. I’ve had to: re-send messages with attachments, grab attachments to help clarify information or instructions, upload RUSH data from the field, download RUSH field data for remote supervision and decision tree review, and upload final reports from remote work locations. Like the middle of a wheat field in Saskatchewan, or our Seasonal Caravan Camp in Central Alberta. You will want to be on-and-off as quickly as possible, tethering chews through data and may incur extra business costs.
